Basis Peak Fitness and Sleep Tracker App Reviews

Irregular Data

I finally got my watch to sync with the app on my phone after the last update, but after just another few weeks, the app started acting up. Its started adding random minute-long bursts of steps where I supposedly take 2000+ steps (in under a minute) and burn an extra 3000 calories. It doesnt make any sense. I know its not the watch itself because the watch continues to display the correct number of steps and calories. And of course theres no support for anything like this on the website. I love this watch and app when its working correctly, but it seems like Im frustrated with it more often than not. Three stars because even with the additional bursts, the watch and app still provide useful data.

App not for iPad

Dont believe it when it says that the app works on iPad. It seemed to work OK when you are in the app (based on my one day of usage) but if you sign out, the cropped iPhone screen display on the iPad doesnt show the link to sign in. It asks you to create an account, but when you try, it stops, saying (correctly) that an account already exists. And you need the App to sync. The website only syncs with the app, which gets its data from the watch. So now I have a nice watch but no way to get to the reports or any tracking data. :( i didnt want to buy a $400 phone just for this.

Pretty Good

Pretty good, but would love to be able to see gsr and skin temperature. It would also be nice if skin temperature was sent to the apple health. All in all pretty good but needs some tweaks.

Awful

Just got this watch for Christmas and it will not even sync up to the app! I should have gotten a fitbit!

Incremental improvements

If good things come to those who wait, the Peak and this iOS app are case-in-point. Steady, incremental improvement has been the name of the game and Im interested in seeing where the app goes next.

Excellent App & Watch

Autosyncs your data effortlessly. Exports to health kit without problem. Reasonably accurate and repeatable measurements. Love the graphs. I wish theyd overlay the heart rate and other graphs on the sleep analysis chart. Loses some data while I sleep occasionally. I presume it doesnt have good contact. I told the company of a display bug I was having. They quickly helped and released new firmware update after that. Dont know it that fixed if, but I havent had it since.

Untrustworthy

2016-01-17U Every new version, I see the same issues from reviewers. I thought they would feel compelled to fix these issues, but people still say the issues are present. Im still running 1.15.0; I want to update, but Im afraid they broke more stuff in 1.16.0 than they fixed in 1.17.0. Who marks a bug-fix version as a minor version? It should be a patch version, like 1.16.1, not 1.17.0. A trend these days seems to be that ".0" at the end means "we probably broke stuff, so update at your own risk"; not characteristic of a bug-fix-only version. I want to see 1.17.1, 1.17.2, 1.17.3, and the only thing that each of them should contain is "fixed bug X", "fixed bug Y", and "fixed bug Z". My trust for Basis has been declining for the past half year. Improve stability so we can begin to trust you. Right now, Basis Peak is just an entertaining toy rather than a reliable tool that we can trust in and be proud of.

Horrid app or horrid watch...or both?

Difficulty pairing the devices and syncing watch & phone - despite multiple soft restarts, placing watch & phone side by side or on top of each other, turning wifi on & off, toggling Bluetooth on & off. Seems like a LOT of work/troubleshooting to get devices to pair to provide information. If its the watch is the poorly-designed item, then I suggest you spend your time & hard-earned money on something else. My primary reason for getting this particular watch/app was that I needed a fitness watch that could get wet, not have to worry about it getting fried, & have it read heart rate.

Works, but needs improving

This app shows you all the data from my Basis Peak, but needs the ability to edit activities. There are too many different views, its a little confusing. Also, there is no easy way to change times/days in charting mode. Glad for HealthKit integration! Watch often has disconnected symbol, but usually works great.

Worst watch ever

I received the watch as a gift and after a month or so it stop working properly. I decided not to receive notifications unless is from basis but it continued to send me all the notifications. Also, it would not sync with my iPhone. I emailed them about two weeks ago and still havent received a response. After 2 months of no response i had to email them again and there response was "sorry we cant do anything about it" bull**** . Do Not purchase from basis worst quality ever

Time to throw it away

Not sure if its a software or hardware (watch) problem. Worked fine for four months. Now it disconnects every time the app is closed. Meaning the app had to run 24/7 on my phone if I want alerts for calls or texts. This has been going on for a week now. Forget it. Time to shjt can this device for an Apple Watch. The basis watch is just to ugly to wear as a wrist watch only.

Good but not great yet

I like the app in its current form BUT I strongly feel some things are lacking. Id like to see a couple of things especially: 1. Charting for more than just the existing 3 hour window, like for 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, etc. 2. View your activity in a map. 3. Show and support zone training.

Awesome update!!

Love the ability to add custom workouts!! I wonder, does it change the way it calculates caloric burn based on the workout? Anyways, another improvement to a great app that supports a fantastic product. I really want some social integration though!! I want to challenge my friends!! And the habits are boring without additional milestones to reach. We need trophies and badges for running a certain amount or distance....etc Also, another big want....IFTTT support!!! I want to do more with my data. Instead I have to use the Jawbone UP app to pull data from HealthKit to get the integration I need.

Love the idea of this but doesnt well, battery drainer!

Undercounts my steps. Uses 8% of my battery even though I never checked a thing. Please add a feature to not sync often so it wont be such a drain! Doesnt capture most of my bike rides (which are in a city so stop and go). Doesnt capture walking or biking as "active" time. Thought I was asleep when I went to a movie. Data is collected and even charted while you are off Internet , but it wont count toward your habits.
